Could you please let me know what is the External Editing File Format that you use from Lightroom to Photoshop.
Do you use Tiff or PSD ? and also when in Photoshop , do you go to File > Save or you click on File>Save As ?
I suppose that would depend on the number of layers you are saving. I just took a 24 megapixel image and added seven layers, left it as a 16 bit image, and it saved as a 542 MB PSD file. The original DNG file was 22.6 MB, the NEF would have been about 20 MB. Then I converted the file to an 8-bit image, and the size reduced to about 350 MB. So how many layers are you adding to your image?
Thanks Tanuj - I am using .DNG files . And, I tend to "Save" directly back into Lightroom and rarely use Save As. They are saving back into LR as TIFFs.
Thank you Jim - I am using 23 mb (give or take) .DNG files , editing as 8 BIT TIFFs. I rarely use more than 5-6 layers, and most of these are adjustment layers, though there are also stamp visible layers. Here's an example of a typical edit. The document size registers as 126 mb/ 427 mb in PS - and the actual saved file in my library is double that at 950 mb.
Appreciate your help!
