Captivate 2 export to Flash 8

    Nickels55 Community Member
I have looked around for the answer here, but I am still stumped. I created a captivate 2.0 file and saved it. I try to export it to Flash 8 and when I do the controller skin is gone. I also tried to import the cp file into Flash 8, that didn't work. I removed the border from the skin in Captivate - still nothing. How do you keep the controller (play, rewind, ff, etc) when exporting to Flash 8. I feel dumber then ever. Thanks for any guidance.

Hi Flashtard (Probably really takes one to know one! - So there's my deprecating statement)

I wonder if the following would work. I know to create a single .SWF movie, you edit the skin (Project > Skin...) and click the Borders tab, then DE-select the check box for borders. My thoughts are that if this creates a single file with the playback controller as part of that file, maybe, just maybe it will work for Flash Export too.

Just a shot from the hip... Rick

Did that already - no luck :(

It's odd because I had no problem with the controller showing up when converting over Captivate 1.0 files. Hmmmmmm

              Hi Nickels55,

You can still export the Old skin to flash just as CA 1.01. For this open the skin editor (project -> skin...), from the top left drop down for skin, select BMP Playbar. Save the project and then export to flash. However if you want to see the new playbars also exported to flash you can make feature request by clicking here

Mind if I asked how the heck did you figured that out? Great find - thanks for saving me $40 to get tech support on a buggy issue that has NO INFO ANYWHERE ON ADOBE'S SITE. Nice policy they got there - release a buggy product and make you pay for them to tell you it doesn't work.

                  Hi again Nickels55

I'm glad to see you got this sorted. Many thanks to users such as Dexterous that are able to offer advice.

Regarding your question of "How the heck did you figure that out?". I personally believe this underscores the importance and usefulness of a medium such as these forums. Here we have a focal point of many thousands upon thousands of users.

It just takes that one user that has decided to try poking Captivate in just the right spot "just to see what it will do if you do that" to make such discoveries.

At least that's my take on it. I confess, I'm a regular Captivate poker. I sure am glad it isn't a bear!

                  Cheers all... Rick

Just noticed that even though it works, using this technique removes the closed captioning. The problems never end...
