    Horizontal thunderbolt symbol to indicate lines (rows) of text omitted

      HI All

       

      I am writing an accounting book which has examples of documents and ledger postings. I want to show the reader I have omitted lines (rows) on the form so I can focus their attention on the lines which I include

       

      I have seen in some books two methods for this

       

      1. using a lightening bolt symbol placed horizontally

       

      2. using a series of dots (ellipses)

       

      I prefer the first but I haven't seen it recently

       

      What are your views?
