Horizontal thunderbolt symbol to indicate lines (rows) of text omitted

      HI All

I am writing an accounting book which has examples of documents and ledger postings. I want to show the reader I have omitted lines (rows) on the form so I can focus their attention on the lines which I include

I have seen in some books two methods for this

      1. using a lightening bolt symbol placed horizontally

      2. using a series of dots (ellipses)

I prefer the first but I haven't seen it recently

      What are your views?

      Warm regards/gary
