If you have photos on a camera card, the COPY option will create the desired date folders.
MOVE is no longer available.
Importing duplicates is no longer available, you can use virtual copies in Lightroom to cover the situation where you want duplicates of a photo.
1. Move option has been removed from Lightroom 2015.2.1 as a deprecated feature. It is no longer available in the latest version of Lightroom.
2. Don't Import Suspected Duplicates is now inbuilt in the application and by default enabled. User has no longer provided with an option to disable it.
3. Please follow the below steps to Disable Add photos screen while importing.
> Go to Lightroom > Preferences.
> Click on the General tab
> Uncheck “Show ‘Add Photos’ Screen”
> Restart Lightroom
Hope this helps.
Many, many existing users objected loudly to removing existing features from Import, so Adobe recently announced they would be "restoring import workflows" and will "restore the previous import experience": Lightroom 6.2 Import Update. It's not clear yet exactly what that means, so I suggest that you add your vote and details about how you used Move to this topic in the official Adobe feedback forum:http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/new-update-6-2 . It's by far the most "popular" topic ever in that forum, but until Adobe announces details for the new (old) Import, your opinion is still important, especially considering that Adobe said, "We will continue to investigate ways to improve the ease of use of our photography products and will do so via an open dialog, with both existing and new customers."
Meanwhile, revert back to LR CC 2015.1.1 / 6.1: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/new-update-6-2. Wait until Adobe cleans up the mess, and let others do the beta-testing for you!
I'll go and add my vote for important Import options like "MOVE".
I was so stressed last week when I saw what Adobe did. I'm SOOOO glad so many people shouted out their frustrations. I was super nervous for a while.
Understanding the meaning of the words "copy" and "move"
I am also disappointed my the removal of the Move option in LR 2015.2.1 (CC version).
My concept of the meaning of the word 'Copy' - is that a duplicated file would be copied from one location to another. Thereby leaving one version in orginial location and a second version in the new location.
While 'Move' is transpose the file from one location to the other, thereby not having two version of the same file.
Yes I would like to see the Move option returned to LR. I have added my vote to the official link as above.
