APE-14 crashes after a simple audio alignment

    Hans Krieke

Just upgraded from APE V11 to V14 (Dutch version) OS is Windows7

After a simple audio modification APE 14 crashes all the time.

After the sync between audio and video is broken and the audio level is adjusted with a keyframe on another track APE crashes when playing this.

      See example below

          The problem is even worse...

When I just put another video clip above track 1 and make an output level adjustment of the audio signal, APE -14 crashes always when playing this,

          See picture below

What is the video audio format? It looks like probably AVCHD.mts, maybe with Dolby Digital 5.1 channel audio? Please give detail - brand, model, settings for the camera that recorded the video. What is your Premiere Elements 14 project preset? Did you use the same one in 11 for this video audio?

Are you saying that you have used this video audio successfully on the same computer which has Premiere Elements 11 and 14 at this time?

Does this problem exist in a new project as well as in the current project?

Do you notice any difference whether you use the Expert workspace's Timeline Classic View or the Audio View?

Let us start here and then decide what next based on the details in your reply.

            Thank you.

PRE-11 and PRE-14 are installed on the same Windows 7 64 bits (i7-2600 16 GB RAM)

The Premiere presets I always used is PAL 1080i 25 fps STEREO (48khz)

The existing project in PRE-11 also had this settings.

The problem already exist if I create a new PRE 14 project with these setting, just by adding 2 Panasonic 5.1 audio clips above each other and just make a change in the audio output level in one of them.

The same clips and settings cause no problem in PRE-11

I also installed a PRE-14 trial version on a Windows 10 system, using the same clips and settings without problems.

However after reading your mail I made a new project on my Windows 7 system and used the project settings with 5.1 audio.

              And this worked without problems!

However it is strange that there are no problems in PRE 11 and in PRE-14 in the Windows 10 OS

Is it possible to change the audio setting of an existing project?

              Regards,

Thanks for the reply. Great news that you used one of the project presets described for use with 5.1 channel, and it worked for you. Well done.

For Premiere Elements 13/13.1 and 14, once the project preset (project settings) has been set by you or the program, then you need to start a new project in order to use different settings. You cannot do this in Edit Menu/Projects Settings/General. That area is best used to verify the settings rather than change them.

Please update us on your progress as your schedule permits. Any questions, please ask.

I have the same problem with APE-14.

I tried to use project settings with 5.1 audio but it doesn't work : APE 14 crashes all the time after a simple audio modification.

                  My OS is Windows7

                  The video is AVCHD.mts 1920x1080 50p 28 Mbps Audio 48 khz 16 bits 5.1

The camera is a Sony HDR PJ780.

For the project settings I used :

                  - at first, "pal AVCHD 1080p50", it didn't work

                  - then, "Pal AVCHD Full HD 1080i 25 5.1 chanel", same problem.
