The Filename has been removed from the latest update of Lightroom.
To see the file name , you need to take the mouse over the image and then the image name will be shown.
Thats not very convenient at all, especially when going though imports of hundreds of photos.
When clients pick photos to be retouched from their proof galleries, to be CERTAIN you are getting the right image, you MUST go by file name, not the pretty picture. Who thought this was a good idea?
I understand , there are other users as well who are facing issues.
So as of now , as a workaround I suggest you to please Roll Back to Lightroom 2015.1/6.1.1

Adobe has apologized for the mess created by CC 2015.2 and 2015.2.1, and has stated that they will be restoring the previous "import experience": http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2015/10/lightroom-6-2-release-update-and-apology.h tml, Lightroom 6.2 Import Update. However, it's not clear yet exactly how that will happen, so please add your vote and details about how you used the Filename feature to this topic in the official Adobe feedback forum: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/new-update-6-2. In their apology, Adobe explicitly stated they'd be listening carefully to the user community moving forward.
Meanwhile, revert back to 2015.1.1 / 6.1.1 as explained by Tanuj above.
