You need to copy folder which you created on Computer A to the external HDD (Make sure you need to the folder as it is, file structure should be the same), also you need to copy the Lightroom catalog which contains your edited previews to the external HDD.
Lightroom Catalog Location:
Mac /Users/[user name]/Pictures/Lightroom/Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrcat
Windows: C:\Users\[user name]\Pictures\Lightroom\Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrcat
Once copied, Connect the external drive to another computer.
You can move you files from the drive else you can operate your Lightroom straight from the external drive.
Open the catalog from the external drive directly.
Once its opened, it will tell you Images are missing because they are not linked properly
You need to relocate or re-link the Images Refer: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Help | Locate missing photos

Thank you for quick response. I'm still a bit foggy on details of action needed.
1] The wording in parentheses in your first sentence got garbled.I don't understand.
2] As for "copy folder which you created on Computer A to the external HDD", do I just copy the folder from Finder on computer A outside of LR, or do I do something from within LR? I notice that a right-click on the folder in LR shows the option 'Export this folder as a catalog'. Do I do something with that?
3] When you say " You can move you files from the drive", do you mean I use LR 'import' on computer B to bring the photos from the HD into LR on B? Or something else?
4] Concerning the LR catalog with previews on computer A, I have a file named "Lightroom Catalog-2.lrcat", but I also have one named "Lightroom Catalog-2 Previews.lrcat". Which one do I copy to the external HD?
5] When you say "Open the catalog from the external drive directly", how do I do that? Is that from within LR on computer B? If so, from where in LR?
Thank you for your patience. Lightroom Library always confuses me.
Please follow the below article for step by step instruction with Screenshots, also there's video link for the same.

If you are only transferring part of the catalog on Computer A to Computer B then its easier to use 'Export as Catalog' on A and 'Import from another Catalog' on B
So on Computer A
- In Lightroom, select the folder you want to transfer
- Choose 'Export as Catalog', set the target to your external hard drive
- When its exported the photos, it will create a catalog on that drive
- Transfer the drive to Computer B
- Open the existing Lightroom catalog on Computer B
- Select 'Import from another Catalog'
- Source is your external disk
- Choose what you want to do if any of the photos from A are already in B
There is a detailed step by step at How to Use Lightroom's Catalog Export and Import Features > Step 1
Thank you for your attention to the question, Mohit.
That is what I finally got to work after playing with the 'Export this folder as a catalog' action. Thank you for jumping in.
