I received files from an outside vendor. They are using a newer version on InDesign than what I have so they packaged the document and included the fonts. I can't open the native file because it is a newer version than I have so I open the .idml file and all the fonts are missing. They are located in a folder in the package but InDesign isn't linking to them. From what I've researched they should load automatically and be "document only" fonts but it doesn't seem to work. I'm using a PC and I'm assuming they're using a Mac, is this the problem? I'm using CS6. I've tried moving the fonts from their folder to the same folder as the .idml file and visa-versa without any luck.
Could be mac format fonts, which are not going to work on PC. The confirmation would be they show a size of 0 bytes.
They do have a size of 0kb. They are fonts that I have on my system, however they have “(T1)” included in the name on their file which is why InDesign isn’t finding them. Is there a way around this? Can they save it on their Macs a different way so I can use the packaged fonts?
Mac T1 fonts are useless on PC -- it doesn't recognize them as fonts. One or the other of you will need to substitute either Windows Truetype or OpenType versions, both of which work on both platforms.
