I have Lightroom CC on my MacBook Pro, which died. However, I was able to back it up to an external hard drive before it died.
I now have a laptop with Windows 10 on it, and I've installed Lightroom on there. What is the best way to get the Lightroom library from the external HDD from the Mac backup to the local drive of the PC? Can I just copy the files over? I'm guessing no since it's Mac-to-PC. Can it be done without access to the Mac?
You may copy the images from the External Drive to the Windows computer.
However the time you would open Lightroom ,there would be exclamation mark on the images , so you would need to reconnect the images.
Please have a look at the following article : http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm
You will then need to adjust the links. Normally on the Mac you could simply choose “Update Folder Location” and then navigate to the root folder but you may need some extra steps if a drive letter is assigned to an external drive on Windows or the images are being copied to the PC C: drive.
It’s a logical process but you may need to re-connect one folder at a time.
