I recently bought a new camera
Which camera make and model? Raw file formats are unique to every camera make and model. Your Adobe software is probably too old to support the Raw file format.
Supported cameras: Cameras supported by Camera Raw
Compatible Adobe software: Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
I previously owned a Canon 5D Mark II which was stolen in San Francisco. I purchased a Canon 6D as the replacement. All my RAW images from my previous camera are usable. The JPG images from my current camera transfer through only the RAW images have the problem.
The Canon 5D Mark II requires Camera Raw 5.2 or newer. The Canon 6D requires Camera Raw 7.3 or newer. So you need at least Photoshop CS6 to have raw support for the new camera. Your other alternative would be to download and use the DNG converter to create DNG copies that can be used with your current software.
What Jim said.
Options to open the Raw files from the 6D:
- Join the Cloud (Photography Plan at $9.99/month is a one deal), or
- Pay to upgrade to CS6, or
- Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all 6D Raw files to DNG format then edit the DNGs in CS5

Thank you both so much!
