- From where are you importing images, (source) ?
- Go to Lightroom > Preferences.
- Click on the General tab
- Uncheck “Show ‘Add Photos’ Screen” Restart Lightroom and now try importing images.
- Also try importing images from Desktop, and share the results with us.
Thanks for the Confirmation
importing from the desktop/hard drive works fine, but from my 5Dmk3 it hangs.
Check for Read/Write Permissions of your Camera Card and make sure its set to Read and write for all users
it can't be a permission issue because importing using apple's photos app works fine.
What devices do you have plugged into you computer? (e.g. USB devices,External drives,Phone,Tablet)
Remove them and try importing again
i deleted a lot of photos from my camera SD & CF cards, leaving just a few.
This time the import worked!!!
i have a SD card of 128GB & a CF card of a 32GB, most of the photos were on the SD card.
Can i be related to that?
It could be if Photos are Corrupt or there is an issue with Memory card
Add more Pictures to any of your Cf/Sd card and then try to import again and share result with us
Neither can be true, because as i mentioned i was able (as a work around) to import the photos to the computer using apple photos app, then i used lightroom to import then from disk to the catalog.
- What is the Camera raw cache size set to in Preferences>>File handling
- Purge cache
- Also reset Lightroom Preferences after backing up your catalog .See http://lightroom-blog.com/2015/05/23/resetting-preferences-in-lightroom-cc6/
I have the same issue and also use El Capitan. However I cannot import from anything anymore. It used to work with LR5 and LR6 but I think it was after updating LR6 that it does not anymore (or maybe updating OS). I can import some photos but then it just hangs and nothing happens. I have tried to import to different locations but nothing works. Importing using Sony's own import tool works flawlessly.
Also using "synchronize folder" on my photo catalogue also fails. It says I have to add 800 photos, which i try to do. That process also fails.
Sidenote: Is video-import gone?
Edit: I use LR 6.3 and have tried everything suggested here.
Edit 2: Finally got it working again! The nightmare is over!! I rolled back to version 6.0 and then 6.1.1 (uninstalled completely and then reinstalled). Import works and also the "synchronize folder" (It still says I have 800 new photos to import but at least it does not hang during. When its finished it just says "no photos where imported" but at least it does not hang). Will keep this version for ever and ever. Merry Christmas.
