I have found a solution to this!
The Google Drive share link usually ends in ../view?usp=sharing
but when clicked it resolves to ../view as the URL opened in the browser. It seems the ending is just a reference for Google to know where people have the link from?!
So instead of using the link with the "../view?usp=sharing" ending to hyperlink in InDesign, I'm simply using the resolved ending (.../view) and InDesign doesn't crash for me anymore.
I hope this is helpful.
Thank you @Sonjanyc. Really appreciated that you reported back and posted a solution.
Unfortunately seems this solution doesn't quite work for me. It seems every time I open the InDesign file it checks if all the hyperlinks work and when InDesigns and crashes again.
Only way I could get it to work was turning wifi off when opening the file and then just exporting it. Which is not idea, they really just need to fix this at Adobe!
Thanks for letting me know. Please fix this Adobe. It's a bit weird that you dont support urls from Google.
