From Lightroom, Edit In Elements, upon return/save as I get message No Photo Selected, so changes in Elements not saved. How do I get LR to save changes?

    Ira Thomas

When I go to Edit In Elements or Silver Efex Pro, make changes, then try to bring changes back into LR, I get the message, "No Photo Selected", so I can't retrieve the changes in LR. How do I get the changes to save in LR?

          Hi IraThomas,

We would suggest you to reset the Lightroom Preferences back to defaults.

          Steps:

Mac: Press the shift + option keys immediately after you restart Lightroom, and select Reset Preferences from the resulting dialog box ( If you are using the latest version of Lightroom)

Windows: Press the shift + alt keys. In the resulting Reset Preferences dialog box, indicate you want to reset your preferences.

Refer: Preference file and other file locations | Lightroom CC and 6

Once you reset the Preferences, then using the Lightroom and see how it works.

Let us know if that helps.

          Regards,

          ~Mohit

No, it did not correct the problem. I still work on an image in Elements and/or Silver Efex Pro, then Save As, select the original file, click OK, then go out of the plug in, and find LR saying, No Picture Selected. What else can I try?Ira

              Save As

If you are using "Save As" then it is unlikely that the image will return to Lightroom.

"Save As" basically is creating an  image file with a 'New' name that Lightroom does not know about- it is not the file that Lightroom created and sent to the external editor.

You will need to Import the 'new' file created by "Save As", or use the Lightroom 'Synchronize folder' procedure to see it in the LR catalog.

Analogy- You copy a book in a public library and put in on a shelf without making a catalog index for it- how will anyone find it?

So- Edit in Elements, Edit the image, "SAVE" the image.

Thank you. I don't know what happened, but I am using the same procedure I had used before, and now it works: From Elements, File>Save As>Save (File already exists) Replace It>OK>Tiff Options OK. Thanks for helping. Ira

Thanks for your help. My procedure now works, but I haven't changed anything: From Elements - File>Save As>Save>(file already exists) Replace it>OK>Tiff Options OK. Don't know what was out of whack, but thanks for staying with me. Ira
