That's a bit misleading if you are indeed correct. If it wasn't supported then why does AE even allow me to choose my GPU and then go on to recognize all the specs? Maybe just not supported specifically for ray-traced renderer? Anyway, I looked on some other forums and some people were saying to not even bother because Adobe views the ray-traced renderer as obsolete and will not be developing it any further. Is this true? From what one individual said, it seems that the future in 3D for AE is with Cinema4D. If that's the case then I guess I won't even bother using the ray-traced renderer. Thoughts?
Your other assumptions are also correct!
Stay with PC, don't be tempted by Macs, and learn 3ds Max for 3D, and Vray for rendering.
It will be a hard slog, but you'll be able to achieve anything you want.
