Make sure the Pictures you are trying to drag/drop are not custom sorted(folders) and you click on the image part of the thumbnail before you drag, instead of the clicking on the gray area around the image thumbnail.
Do you drag an image by starting with the mouse cursor exactly on an image thumbnail? (Not a grey border!)
Is it possible the thumbnails show original images are 'missing' with a [!] ?
Can you make a Collection the "Target Collection" (showing a +) and use keyboard shortcut [B] to add selected image/s to the Target collection? (Quick Collection is the default Target collection)
A common answer to many problems is to reset the Preferences!
Hi Akash, Thanks for your reply. I dont understand what you mean by custom sorted. I have taken them directly from a folder on my hard drive.
Also when trying to make another collection folder I click o the cross and the box I get doesnt allow me to name the folder.these two functions worked perfectly well when I started using it yesterday.

I do Drag from on the image, not the grey area.
The thumbnails do not have an ! beside them.
I have just tried using the shortcut (B) as you asked and this works. thanks
It all worked when I started with it yesterday.
I have another issue now. when I click on the + beside Collections to create another collection I wont allow me to give it a name. The working choice I have is "Inside Collection set"
Thank you for your help.
