I have noticed that lightroom 6 keeps a count of how many pictures have been assigned that particular keyword and shows that number to the side of that keyword. The is very useful to me. However, if I have keywords in a hierarchy the hierarchy keywords often do not show how many pictures are assigned total to that keyword. for example, if I have 'toys' as a main keyword, 'balls' as a sub keyword and 'red' and 'blue' as colors of balls under the keyword 'balls', the 'red' and 'blue' will show the number of pictures assigned to each one, and the keyword 'balls' may or may not show how many pictures are assigned to both 'red' and 'blue' category and the main keyword 'toys' may or may not also. It seems to be random for the higher up keywords. how can i set it so all my keywords show how many pictures are assigned to all the sub-keywords and main keywords? Hopefully you understand my question.
In the Keyword List pane, the counts always show the number of photos that are assigned that keyword -- the counts do not include the counts of subkeywords. But if you click on the arrow to the right of the keyword, LR will show you all the photos assigned that keyword as well as all the photos assigned a subkeyword. To see just those photos that were explicitly assigned a keyword and not any subkeywords, see here: Re: Find images with parent keyword tag only?
