As per the screenshot you have posted, there are 3 operations are being performed.
I would suggest you to wait for this to complete.
Once it is done, try importing again and check Lightroom.
Yeah your Mac is busy building 1:1 previews. That takes quite a long time depending on how many images you are importing. Let it finish, could be hours, then try importing.
Also your Mac might be running out of disk space as 1:1 preview take up a lot of hard drive space. There really is no reason to Auto build 1:1 previews IMHO.
Thank you. That did work. I will stop building 1:1 previews. Also thought that was necessary? What is the advantage of having them?
Thank you that did work. I use to check to eject my card after import but don't see that option in the new import screen. Am I missing something?
With 1:1 previews the image will load slightly faster in a 1:1 view, IE Zoomed in to 1:1 ( 1 Image Pixel to 1 Screen Pixel). LR will do that automatically when you zoom into 1:1 but it will take slightly longer to load. Viewing thumbnails in Grid view the 1:1 preview have no effect. Just wasted hard drive space.
Select Standard for the import preview build mode.

Nope - the option has been removed.
We expect it back with the next release.
