I am using a Macbookpro OS 10.10.5 with a trial version APE 14. I am unable to download 1080i media from my Sony HVR-V1E (DVCAM). Does Adobe no longer support tape based media? I also really need to record live performances directly onto my HD. (mini dv tapes only last an hour).
Also, I am used to FCP where I can import directly into the programme from card readers etc . The APE 14 Media import pane gives one the impression that this is possible, with a great list of possible sources ,but it doesn't recognise anything I throw at it. I need to download all media on to somewhere else on my HD first, then import the file that way, is this right?

Premiere Elements 14 Mac.....
Adobe discontinued DV and HDV capture firewire into the Premiere Elements Capture Windows in Premiere Elements 13/13.1 and that remains the same in the newly released Premiere Elements 14. Please see the Adobe document that talked about this situation in 13/13.1 and suggested workarounds for the situation.
Have you looked into capturing your DV and HDV data in another program and then importing the captures into the Premiere Elements project. Does that serve your purposes at all?
Please consider. Please let us know if you have questions or need clarification on the above?
