I upgraded to windows 10 smoothly. However, this last time I went to open LR, only part of my catalog opened. Some of the subfolders are there but many are not. I did not move any files at all so that's not an issue. The most upsetting part is that naturally I have backups of the original files and the lr file, but when I opened with the latest backup, they're still not there. Does anybody know what's going on and how I might recover my edits? I'm not completely heartbroken because I have two copies of the original NEF and Jpeg files but I spent many hours editing and that's now lost.
Use your operating system's search feature to search all of your hard disks for all catalogs (their name ends with .LRCAT).
Then double-click on each one (although most likely the catalog that has the largest file size is the one you want) to open it in Lightroom and see if the photos are all there.
Click on file and choose open recent it will gonna contain the list of the most recent catalog that you have opened.
Try opening each one and check which catalog contains all the sub folders.
