I am creating a video in after effects cc and it needs to be able to be viewed on mobile devices as well as various browsers. My question is, which export file option should I select when exporting through after effects cc? I know I have to use media encoder, but Im not sure which file export option to chose for it to be compatible with internet explorer. I know ie supports flv and swf, but after effects no longer gives you that option. Is it H264? Ive been on multiple forums and that's the closest to a solid answer I have seen.
It's tough to go wrong with the YouTube encoding preset in AME.
h264 is the most common codec/format that most people use. It should play without any issues on any browser, any smart tv, and any dvd/bray player. So... render your proyect with Media Encoder with settings of your liking or chose one from many already avaliable presets in AMe. As Dave sait - you can't go wrong with one of Youtube presets or Vimeo presets.
If you really need to render to flv ( but it's not a good idea because some mobile browsers (smartphone, tablet) does not support flash anymore) and if you have CC subscription - you can download and instal one of earlier versions of AE/AME
- f.eg. CS6 - and render your videos/animations to flv/swf format.
