1. Re: fms.ini reconfiguration for media loaction
kdlla Mar 30, 2009 10:03 AM (in response to kdlla)the lack of Adobe support
this is a direct quote from Adobe Support to this question
Hi ,
I didn't see any support contract associated with this case. Usually you
would need a valid support contract for Flash Media Server product
support as per this link:
http://www.adobe.com/support/programs/fms/
If you do have valid support, please provide us with an order number so
that we can validate entitlement. If you don't have support, you can
obtain valid support by choosing the desired contract and following the
appropriate steps.
Let us know.
Thanks.
I went to the support purchase link above and the only support option is the silver for $10,000 per year, whom are they kidding? That's 10 times the purchase price. Greed has come to Adobe.

techeye Mar 30, 2009 12:29 PM (in response to kdlla)I don't fully understand your questions, but perhaps one of these two options might help:
1. Stacking virtual directories for vod:

2. create symlinks to content -
4. Re: fms.ini reconfiguration for media loaction
kdlla Mar 30, 2009 4:05 PM (in response to kdlla)Hi Laurel
they just emailed me about Bronze support it's $250, for an answer that probably takes them 1 minute to write, outrageous, even though I spend $1000 for the software.
Right now i have useless software on my server.
I will need get an outside Flash expert, Adobe is so consumer unfriendly.
I will forward the technote that techeye posted to a flash expert, hopefully I find one in a few days.
Greed will backfire soon as one can see with the banks now,
one unhappy Adobe customer
thanks

Jody Bleyle Mar 30, 2009 10:39 PM (in response to kdlla)Hi Klaus,
This parameter sets the path to media that is available over RTMP (streaming) or HTTP (progressive download):
VOD_COMMON_DIR = /opt/adobe/fms/webroot/vod the live link doesn't apply since this is only the streaming server. on demand only
This parameter sets the path to media that is available over RTMP only:
VOD_DIR = /opt/adobe/fms/applications/vod/media
You can change the VOD_DIR parameter to point to another folder. For more information, check out "Configuring content storage":

Hope that helps,
Jody
