Hey, I have worked on a file for a long time today and am pretty happy with the outcome.. The work includes time remapping as well as scaling. Now I would like to add a camera tracker, however, after effects seems to have a problem with this. My idea was to render out the file I have worked on and then open the exported file within a new composition to then add the camera tracker. However, I would lose some customization options in case I want to rework any of my previous keyframes and effects. So I am wondering if there is another way to add a camera tracker without getting rid of any of the things I have already worked on.
I am looking forward to a response.
If precomping your work and then applying the camera tracker to it is a no-go, you'll have to prerender. Hey, people have been doing it in AE for a couple of decades now, and to my knowledge no deaths havce resulted from the practice.
The Camera tracker is not going to work very well on time remapped footage even if you pre-compose. It will not work at all on a time remapped layer. Your best option is to render your time remapped footage then replace the layer in your comp that you time remapped with the rendered footage. You can then run camera tracker to that layer and add any other 3-D elements that you want to the shot.
