I suspect you are using Lightroom 6, not 5, because Panoramas has been added with LR6.
You need to select/mark at least 2 photos, then Panorama will be available.
Merge to Panorama is an option only available with PHo, not with PSE (and has always been).
To compose a Pano in PSE, you can do the following:
- Select several photos in LR
- Edit in Adobe Photoshop Elements
- In PSE, File/New/Photomerge Panorama
- Save Pano
- Close PSE
- Import saved Pano into LR
Thank you for the reply. I am definitely using Lightroom 5 - see this from the application.
I get this menu when I have selected a number of files:
I have been trying to follow the instructions from Scott Kelby’s great book on Lightroom 5.
Thanks for the prompt response. I have been following the instructions from Scott Kelby’s book on Lightroom 5 which implies you can use PSE.
As I am now using PSE 14 the photo merge is no longer on the File/New menus in the expert module but have been moved to the guided module. So when I use edit in PSE from LR it is a bit more cumbersome and in guided mode I still have to reselect the file.
Thanks again for your help.
It did work with former PSE versions. I dont know about 14.
However, the procedure is different than with PS.
Maybe this video (in german) helps you see how it's done with the older versions: Lightroom und Elements im Zusammenspiel | bL&Log
Thanks but I do not speak German and the video is for Lightroom 3.
You can still look what she's doing and the procedure is the same
I appreciate the help but the question I was asking was not how to do panoramas - I have that in Scott Kelby’s book but why the menu is greyed out in Lightroom 5. Also as I do not speak German I cannot work out which menu she is using because of the different versions.
Thank anyway for trying to help.
Can you post a small screen-shot of the menu that show your situation?
sarsaxen in post #3 gave you the answer, merge to panorama is not an option when using Photoshop Elements, only Photoshop.
With PSE there is no (never has been) a direct menu function in LR for Panos. This is only available with PS.
With PSE you have to got the way shown in the video, whcih probably is the same as Scott Kelby suggests.
I sent this screen shot from LR that I sent last time but it may be removed before you get it.
There has been a way to select images in Lightroom 5 and then sent them to PS or PSE since it was first issued. But as you can see I can Edit in PSE but the bottom 4 options are greyed out.
