In my experience, problems like this are usually caused by a problem with the CSV file. Even a single return character in a cell on your Excel sheet can throw everything off.
I agree with SRiegel. Can you take a screengrab of the affected cell?
Also, what happens if you copy and paste that cell into ID or a text application such as textwrangler?
I think you are right aboput the data corruption. I crated another row in another part of the postcard and tried pulling that data over and it did the same thing. I dont know why it happened. But I think we figured out it was something wrong on the spreadsheet side.

There was an issue with referenced cells not showing up in Excel files placed in InDesign . Could be related.
