So I'm trying to import a 2 second .mov clip and I keep getting the error message "this '.mov' file is damaged or unsupported".
Codec DNxHD (AVdn) according to VLC
Frame RAte: 23.976000
Decoded format: Planar 4:2:2 YUV 10-bit LE
I'm on Windows 7, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled Quicktime 7 with no luck. The video won't play back with QT. The playback is a little choppy in VLC. I've also tried importing the clip into Premiere CS6. Whenever I try that I get the error message 'Codec missing or unavailable'. I have also redownloaded the footage a couple of times just in case there was a problem with the initial download. I've gone through the old forums without any luck and was wondering if you guys had any ideas. How would you try to get AE to import this .mov?
Thank you so much!
Convert it through Handbrake or any other ffmpeg-based conversion tool or export it as an image sequence from Avid. Those are oddities/ bugs in the Avid CoDec itself.
Thank you so much. It's working now.
So the reason it wasn't working is because Windows doesn't by default have the correct codec pack to open the files. In order to get it to work, I had to download the DNxHD codec pack. Working fine now.
