The show event fires when a component's visible property changes from false to true. The grid's visible property never changes, so the event never fires. So, yes, you'll have to use the Canvas' show event. And I don't understand how this is bad form. Since the showing/hiding of the grid is tied to the behaviour of the TabNavigator, shouldn't the event be caught at that level?
Oh, I thought that when a container component changed its visibility it got inherited to the child components? Guess I was wrong :) makes sense now that the show event is never fired for the datagrid..
Since I want to keep code to a minimum in my application, same with referencing other components in my own custom components, this somewhat breaks it for me :)
Is there no way (event) to know if an component is actually shown to the user?
