Adobe generates enormous PDApp-log files, consuming almost my entire hard disk. How can I stop that?

Since installing Lightroom 6, I noticed that all my drive space was consumed, no matter how much free space I made. I now tracked it down to Adobe making enormous PDApp-log files. These files are several Gb's in size and typically made a couple of times during the day. On a daily base about 20 Gb is produced!!!

Please tell me how to prevent this happening. My MacBookPro almost stopped functioning after installing LR6.

      Computer: MacBookPro, OSX latest version.
