InDesign Preferences - Script to restore all settings???

Eugene Tyson Adobe Community Professional & MVP

InDesign CC15 will crash when updating layers from an illustrator file - steps to reproduce - create a non-simple Illustrator file with layers.

Place file in InDeisgn - and edit the Illustrator file from the Edit>Graphic option in InDesign.

Turn off a layer in Illustrator.

      Save

Update the file in InDesign - 9/10 it crashes my InDesign.

Whenever I open InDesign after this crash my InDesign preferences are completely reset! It's infuriating.

Steps I always have to go through after a crash.

      Tool Panel to double column

Edit>InDesign Preferences and Type, Spelling, Units of Measurement,  Dictionary to UK, Spelling activate Dynamic Spelling, Activate Autocorrect, Clipboard handling

      View>Workspace>Eugene

      View>Extras> Hide Content Grabber.

      It happens so oft!!!

I'm desperate if anyone knows of a script that memorise your InDesign>Preferences - your Workspace - and what your Customised Menu options under View>Extra (or other method) are!

It takes about 5 minutes to go through all the settings - and I'm doing this 3 - 4 times a day - and in a week that's 20 times a week - at 5 minutes and that's 1.6 hours every week.

      Any help is appreciated!
