- From where are you importing the images?
- What is the source and what is the destination.
- Do you have read and write permissions on Source and Destination.
- If you are importing form an external device, try copying the files on desktop and then import the images from desktop.
Check the destination in the import screen. This error message means that you do not have write permissions in the destination folder. The error message is really badly worded indeed but can be understood from how it technically works. What happens is that Lightroom first tries to copy files to the destination and fails and then tries to read the files at the new destination and discovers the files are not there and can't be read! Simply set the destination folder to the right folder and the problem will be solved.
I am getting the same error. So frustrating
source: Nikon D750 destination: external hard drive and I do have read/write access to both
Double check your access and the actual selection in the import panel. This error message always indicates you don’t have write access.
