Unlinked/broken links displaying as grey boxes instead of low-res preview of images. How to fix it?

There is probably a very simple solution that I have overlooked so apologies if it's a silly question.

I have recently upgraded to CC 2015 version and encountered this problem.

When I send an InDesign file to my client who uses the same version as me (CC 2015) instead of seeing a low-res preview of an image they see just a grey box for all broken links. When I click "save as"  the tickbox for "Always save  preview images with documents" is ticked and images in the said INDD document are saved as TIFF before being drag and dropped into the layout. The client's View -> Display performance is set to "Typical Display" and whenever they send any files to me I do see preview images with broken links just fine.

These are my current Links Options from link panel.
