    Old IE Browser

    pepe12345
I was quite happy with the site I made until I looked at it with Internet Explorer version 5.0.1.
I looked at it with horror.
There appeared a large gap between top of the screen to the top of my css div container although I made body top and left margin to zero.
Should I ignore this? Or is there any solution to it? I wonder how many people are still using this IE 5.0.1.
I installed a multiple version of IE to my computer to check my site.
If any body can give me some advice, I will be very happy.
      Thanking you in advance.
      My site is http://www.theartoftaichi.co.uk

Based on this fairly reputable site .5% are still using IE 5.

          http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

You will find that the strongest is Firefox right now because most people tend to update whereas IE appears to be more dependent on the OS as opposed to the user's choice as evidence by the slow growth of IE 7.

If you want advice though there are a few minor errors with your site that are causing validation errors:

          http://validator.w3.org/

Just put your intro.html page into that line. Some of those errors may cause issues ( one for example is on line 168 where there is a </a> without a beginning <a> tag ). Just simple things that could easily be fixed. Most are missing alt tags which are required on images in XHTML 1.0 Transitional.

IE still holds more than 50% (6 and 7). And the values may be completely
different on your own site. You always have to check your own logs to
see what your visitors are using.

Alt _attributes_ are always required in every standard.

              Hi, Michael,

Thank you very much for giving me an advice and showing me such a useful site to validate my site.
It is very interesting to find out all the faults
I will concentrate on repairing all the faults of my site.

              Kindest regards,

Some still do. Even NN4 appears now and then. Whether to still cater for
                  them is another question, though.

As said - there are no general browser stats, what matters are your own
                  site's logs.

Why do you think that most likely I'm replying to a bot?
