Well I didn't had time to work out an example bud it should be possible; since in the online example you can "test" it=>
1 put in user name; press connect
2 open other window; and repeat step one (except other username)
3 repeat step 2
4 start chatting from client 1 to client 2
5 start chatting from client 3 to client 2
-> you can c the client 3 and client 1 can watch the webcam video of client 2.
Though you will need an array of netstream objects for each client which connects to you, and send the array to the clients allready connected to you. Bud that's just an idea...
Ok I tried and it didn't work. Here is what I tried.
Client 2 connects to Client 1.
Client 3 connects to Client 1.
Client 1 can send text and it will be seen by Client 2 and Client 3.
Client 2 can send text but it will only be seen by Client 1.
Client 3 tried to send text and it is not seen at all by Client 1 and Client 3.
What I want to achieve is have the ability for Client 2 and Client 3 to send text to Client 1 or ideally for every client to see text sent from any other client. Is this possible?
I forgot to mention it doesn't work for the chat it only works for the webcam stream. (if in my example client 2 streams his webcam and client 1 and client 3 "call" him). (just tried it and worked)
Bud since I am also intrigued by your question I written it down (didn't had time to make an example yet) I'll try scetch it:
3 people in total.
Josh, Sander and Alex.
1. Josh connects to Sander, they both instantiate in & out streams to communicate.
2. When Alex connects to (example:) Josh, Josh creates a new Stream which listents to Alex
3. Josh also notifies Sander that Alex connected to him and sends Alex's id to Sander. Sander can then create a stream which listents to Alex.
Hope this helps a bit :) will try making an example in the near future.
I have not looked at the webcam stream at all. I have created a text only example that I am working with and cannot get it to work properly. The reason behind text only is to enable text chat and more than 2 person multiplayer gaming. I will place the example up on git-hub shortly and post a link. Help in this would be beneficial to all concerned.
I have posted an example on a git-hub repository. You can access it at
The example is created with Flash CS4 and AS3.
I made a blog post about this (+example) though it still is queed for approval, I post it here (with source code enabled offcourse) as soon it get's online
this is the first working example of 3 or more connections with stratus , please man, post the source code of that text chat.
Hi there you can view the source here:
ps: I got my own methods of implementing vmc-protocol in developing Flex app's.
For all the traffic and NetStreams look inside the package:
Hi there, ive been reading and it doesnt sound like the P2P RMTFP will allow you to do multiple connections.
THe reason for this is that the P2P solution that they are providing in the Adobe Air 1.5 and
Adobe Flash Player 10 will not support swarming which is the term for multiple-to-multiple connections.
At this stage, it will only support connecting to one other flash player.
Some people say that it will be replacing some CDN's in the future. Not if they do not allow it for swarming.Would like to hear what others have to say about what i said.Ben
Hi there fermmm
Could u please give me a link do this example that you are referring to??
I cannot find it.
Ok i can see emphasized example
but its not in english.
Emphasized, can you translate it to english???
Hi there, yes I'll try do this as soon as possible.
And my example just shows that it is possible to do the streaming with multiple users though this is not adviced to do so due to overkill at a certain point, Adobe has better solutions for these problems (Flash media server). The explanation which is in dutch btw also mentionts this though as stated before I'll try to update the explanation to English.
If you got anny questions regarding to this don't hesitate to contact me
