InDesign does never delete any files. It is either done by you yourself, some co-workers, some other program, a virus or by some procedures set up on your OS, like clean up automatism.
Willi, this has been reported before with network storage on Mac OS and some versions of InDesign CC....
@taylrscott, what version are you using and what OS? Are the files stored on a network? As I said, this has been reported before. Two other threads with possible solutions are at Indesign creates an alias file and Re: Files turn into alias. Original file vanished
We have same issue:
Debian 8.3 server (64bit) running samba. We have near 60 iMacs (snow Leopard, Mavericks, Yosemite, elCapitan) but only one iMac (Snow Leopard), running Adobe Indesign CS5.5 is doing strage things:
I open Indesign, open a file allocated in the samba server, make changes on the file, close file without saving changes. Automatically the file vanished, disappears!!!! And its imposible to recover it
I do not know whats happening and how to prevent it.
Some help is welcome.
