Hi M. Verbiest,
Update of Lightroom cannot cause the image names to get changed.
and as per the description, it seems that the image names were changed outside Lightroom.
Date/time are added to the photo names generally when the images are recovered due to some reason.
Lightroom would not be able to read the new names by itself and the only way is to relocate the images.
Are you working in the same catalog in which you were working before the update?
Thank You for your reaction.
I just updated Lightroom CC and opened it after the update was finished.
So i didn't change the catalog.
Update cannot cause the image names to be changed.
Something else might have caused the names to be changed outside Lightroom.
you will have to relocate the files individually.
That is quite impossible, because i have a lot of photos. It wil take days relocating each file individually.
Next best might be to open a new catalog and to rebuild the structure.
Anyhow a lot of work coming up
I think i need to clear this up. There is no change of the filename outside Lightroom. The name is changed just inside Lightroom. Maybe there is a problem with the catalog?
Yes, if the filename is changed only inside catalog then, its the issue with Catalog.
Do you have a recent backup of your Lightroom Catalog?
A backup catalog would be most beneficial in this case and would save double work that you would have to do otherwise.
Would suggest you to look for your catalog backups.
