Hi! I have this problem: When I convert my InDesign files to PDF (print) it changes all my hyphens to letters. I don't see it in my computer (in InDesign or in Adobe reader) but when someone else opens it (like my printcompany) all hyphens have changed. It even does it sometimes when I convert it to JPG. What happens and why? How can I change it? It doesn't do it all the time.
It sounds like a font problem. Is it properly embedded? How are you making the PDF? What's the font?
How do they open the PDF? They should not open it with anything else than Acrobat.
Did you check, if the font is embedded?
