Where are your original images stored?
Are they stored individually on both the machines or on external drive?
If the images are saved one external drive, then Lightroom Catalog should be able to read the images on both the machines.
does the drive name change when you switch from one platform to another?
Hi Chetna, Yes, the images are stored on one external drive. The name of the drive is the same on both machines, but the drive letter may be changing.
Yes, that could be causing the issue.
You can either relocate by choosing the drive name so that all the folders within it are relocated or you might want to find a process so that the drive name does not change when you switch the platform.
Yes Chetna, I agree, but I am having difficulty finding a solution to this problem. What keystrokes to use? Which menu to search for answers. Which computer do I make the changes on? The PC or the Mac?
I am not aware of how can the drive letter name be stopped
However, I can suggest about the relocation of missing files as you switch from one platform to another.
You need to right click / command click on the drive name and choose Fine missing folder> choose the new drive name from File explorer/ Finder to relocate.
Or, you can follow the same process for the main parent folder of images within the drive.
The drive letter problem has to be changed at the operating system level.
On the PC, you need to use the "Disk Management" tool. (On Win7, that is /start/administrator tools/computer management/disk management/ )
Assign a drive letter to the external drive that is "L" or higher.
