'Indesign CC 2014' & 'page anchor not found' and ICON of hand / oval

      Hi and thanks in advance.

I am Unable to Pass epub Validation because of a 'page anchor not found' error.

What is this ?  Is this the problem ?

There is NOT a way to VIEW ANCHORS  in Indesign CC 2014 (or 2015)

Note this error is not 'TEXT ANCHOR' but 'PAGE ANCHOR'

I have searched high and low.

I have spoken to level 2 creative cloud support.

I have scrutinized every page, every hyperlink, every link....

Unlike the functionality that allows you to View:

      hyperlinks

      link

      pages

      paragraphs styles

There is Not a way to VIEW PAGE ANCHORS.

Look at the very Bottom Right of Page 43 please.

      What is this icon ?

When I hover over it - there are Not any hints.

Is this my Page Anchor problem ?

I circled the ICON in RED

For the gray icon – you must have accidentally converted the frame to a button. Here's how you revert it back to an object:

          1. Select the frame with the Selection tool
          2. Choose Object > interactive > Convert to Object.

Without seeing the document a missing Page Anchor is difficult to see, but:

            • Check the Hyperlinks panel for any red flags. These might point to missing Page Anchors (a page that was linked to previously, but is removed).
            • Another thing to do is remove any unused Hyperlink destinations (Choose Delete Unused Destinations from the Hyperinks panel menu)
            • Other then that check Bookmarks, cross-references etc.
            • The number '27' might point to the 27th hyperlink in your document. (From memory hyperlinks are numbered sequentially internally, this is not something you can see in the document).
            • One other thing it might be is a remnant from an imported Word document.

            If all else fails:

            1. Choose File > Save As
            2. Set Format (or Save As) to INDesign CS4 or Later (IDML).
            3. Then Choose File > Open, navigate to the .IDML file and open it...
            4. And try creating your EPUB again.

If the Page Anchor is still missing:

            • You might need to open the IDML file in an XML editor and see what's going on there.
            • You'd need to most likely look inside the Stories .xml files.

              Hi Cari,

              Thanks again.

When I open the hyperlinks panel, I had green and red circles.

The red circles are what you mean by red flags -yes .

              I fixed all of those.

              They are all green.

Adobe support said the 27 is not the page number.

I tried to sort the hyperlinks but it is only possible to sort by type or name.

Check the Hyperlinks panel for any red flags. These might point to missing Page Anchors (a page that was linked to previously, but is removed).

              I did the below already.

Another thing to do is remove any unused Hyperlink destinations (Choose Delete Unused Destinations from the Hyperinks panel menu)

You suggested the below and I did this.  Thanks. I was completely ignorant about these things

Other then that check Bookmarks, cross-references etc.

I will again try and find a way to order the hyperlinks.

Would that be great if it is this easy.  It should be.

The number '27' might point to the 27th hyperlink in your document. (From memory hyperlinks are numbered sequentially internally, this is not something you can see in the document).

The below. Yes I did Place from word.

But again how do you Find the remnant ?

              What is the process ?

One other thing it might be is a remnant from an imported Word document.

              Thanks again.

I will continue working on it.

You'll need to check the IDML files I'd say...

                1. Create the IDML file
                2. Open the IDML file in an XML editor such as Oxygen XML Author
                3. Search for Hyperlink 27. (I'm only guessing here), it would most likely be in one of your stories.(each series of threaded text frames or stand alone text frames will generate a story.xml file.)
                4. And you'd then need to review the XML to see if there is something there...

Maybe you can upload the IDML files somewhere and someone will be kind enough to take a look at it for you.
