When sharing from Lr Mobile does it render the original image?
since FAQ says Lightroom for mobile syncs original JPEG, PNG, and video files captured by your mobile device camera in the Creative Cloud. Lightroom desktop creates and syncs images to the cloud in the form of Smart Previews. Smart Previews are smaller versions of your original files, roughly 1.5 or 2 MB in size, that retain all the flexibility of a raw file. Changes made to smart previews automatically sync with your originals. The original files remain on your desktop and are not stored, synced, or used by Lightroom for mobile. As such, Lightroom for mobile should not be used as a backup service.
So when i save a photo from Lr Mobile on my phone it uses this 2mb smart preview right? What does this do to my original data and things like that.
So the time you are Syncing the images from Lr Mobile to Lr Desktop, the original image will remain on your Phone, however Lightroom will create Smart previews of the image.
The data remains the same on your phone.
thanks for the quick reply. I believe this is true when the photo is shot on the phone or mobile device ie ipad. But if the photo is shot on a camera and added to the collection on desktop lr that is synced with lr mobile, then what's the case?
example given. Collection 'rivers' is synced for Lr mobile. in this collection are photo's shot with phone and added by phone. But there are also photo's shot with a dslr added through desktop Lr.
Then u use the share option in Lr mobile for a photo from the collection that was shot with the dslr. Does it render the smart preview or the original file.?
