how in Flash did you manage this? I've never seen any option like that before
You should have a backup system in place, if you dont youve learned the hard way unfortunately.
Are you on a mac or pc?
When you go to delete the project/file there is an option to "also delete contents under ......" which references deleting everything in the same folder/directory. Maybe my fault because I just skimmed past it and assumed it meant to delete the file of the project itself from the computer not just in the open flash app. Also maybe my fault for saving it to the desktop rather then a specific flash file only folder. But is seems absolutely absurd to me that it would give the option to delete so much unrelated material, or that it literally just disappears. I figured it was in the trash and just had to move it back but no its no where to be found.
I have a back up but there was a handful of things I did just in the last week since the backup that really sucks to lose. Also its a pain and takes forever to transfer it all back over while still trying to do daily duties.
What confuses me is when I look at the hard drive there is like 200gigs of "other" data which Im 99% sure is what is now missing but cant see or get to it. I downloaded this data recovery app from StellarPhoenix but no idea what Im looking at to see the items I'm trying to find.
Again I am baffled as to why that would even be an option. I have attached a picture to show what Im referring to.
Also on a mac by the way.
are you building within Flash Professional or Flash Builder or Flex?
I just cannot figure out how you would delete an entire folder from within FLash Pro. If it was deleted can you not see it in your trash bin and recover that way?
On the Mac you do have Time Machine available to go back and recover, is this not an option?
You could look in Trash, in case the files are still there.
I honestly know nothing about flash, my typical usage is with PS. I was trying to edit an existing flash file I had(was trying to check something quickly as my design guy is on vacation) and it wasn't working so figured forget it and Ill wait for my design guy to do it. But as shown in the screen shot it gave the option to delete EVERYTHING in the folder where the file is which baffles me.(I assumed it meant the flash project that was open, as well deleting that file from the "folder" not literally the entire folder)
Trust me I first figured no big deal it was just in the trash but nothing there. I have a backup from like a week ago, its not the end of the world I guess just a pain in the a$$ and incredibly stupid that it can happen purposely through Flash.
Im sry to hear you lost the files and Ive been thru that before, Im just trying to wrap my brain around how you were able to delete all files from with Flash.
Hopefully you design guy has backups!
Yea I don't get why in the world that is an option but yea like the pic I showed it allows you to delete everything in the directory you have the file which in my case was the desktop.
