When exporting to PDF, InDesign crashed and now I am unable to open my file. When prompted to recover the file and I select "yes," InDesign crashes. Running CC2015 on Mac OSX 10.11.1. I tried to open on a Windows machine, I attempted to open on a different Mac, all with no success. I successfully exported about 5 minutes before it crashed, but went back to make one last change, chose to replace the PDF I'd just made, and that's when the file crashed. I suspect it was a Photohop file that caused this. Any insight on what I can try to recover my file?
First, get rid of any corrupt recovery data: InDesign crashes upon launch while attempting to recover a damaged document
That said, if the file crashed while writing to disk it may be damaged, too. It's not a good sign that it will not open form other machines. You might have some luck with the Windows tool at INDDRecovery — a program for restoring corrupted InDesign documents
Please email your InDesign file to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will take a look at the document.
If the file is larger than 10 Mb, you can zip (and password protect) the file and upload to Creative Cloud account (or Dropbox) and send us the document link.
