Hi All, My ext hard drive with photos and lr5 catalog recently crashed. I have no backups. I do have an older ext hard drive with photos up to 2 years ago but is running LR4. My IMac has lr5 on it. Can I connect older ext drive with lr4 catalog and pics and how would I upgrade that catalog to lr5?Or would it be better to just start new lr5 catalog and just add photos from lr4 external drive in designated folder in new external drive?
If you have the older catalog and the original images then yes you can connect them,
Check this link on how to do that - Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Help | Locate missing photos
Yes, you can easily upgrade the LR4 catalog to an LR5 catalog. LR5 does this by migrating your old LR4 data into a new LR5 catalog so that your old data is not changed. To do this you just start LR5 then use the menu to open the LR4 catalog.
