I am working on a submission for a book. I have to make a pdf file which I can then upload, but wondering what I should do to get there page numbers at the bottom of each page of my pdf file. I guess I have to get to where the page numbers in the document before I make the pdf file.
The normal procedure would be to insert page number via Type > Inserting Special Character > Marker > Current Page Number, in the Master pages in InDesign and these then come out in the PDF when you export it (and subsequently print the book).
Are you sure the book publishers aren't going to do the page numbering themselves? To do it right yourself, you'd have to know exactly what pages your submission would appear on, and the exact style of their folios.
