Old Fire Guy
What version of Premiere Elements, what computer operating system, including 32 or 64 bit?
What are the properties of your imported film clips? What device recorded them? Or, what brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded them?
Were these clips recorded landscape and with color?
Is your video card/graphics card driver version up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
Is this problem the type "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before"?
Let us start here and then decide what next based on the details in your reply.
Thanks for the fast response! I will need to check all these details. I am a mere beginner at Premier Elements 14 so it will take some time to sort through these ideas. I did try exiting the program and restarting and it is working fine now.
The camera was a Nikon Coolpix AW110, a small unit I carry when ATVing. They are recorded in colour. Not sure about the updates for my video/graphics card. I have two other cameras that I will also be using so it sounds like I have some homework to do! Like I said, I am new to this video editing!
Thanks for the follow up.
Are you saying that all is well with the clips from the Nikon AW110 - color and right orientation?
I checked out the specifications on that camera
and looks like your camera recorded with AVCHD video compression (referred to as MPEG4 AVC/H.264), has a .mov file extension, and has AAC audio.
That should be compatible with Premiere Elements 14...what computer operating system?
Premiere Elements has a requirement for QuickTime 7. If you are using Windows 10, then use QuickTIme 7.7.6. QuickTime 7.7.6 for Windows
Otherwise for Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1 use QuickTime 7.7.8 on the computer with Premiere Elements 14. QuickTime - Download - Apple
Please update us on your progress as your schedule permits, and let us know if all is well with your Premiere Elements 14 workflows.
Any questions, please ask.
I have checked updates for my video card and it is apparently up to date. I have continued on with making a test video and have been successful in adding several clips, even from different devices, and have had success. I have continued on to rearranging the clips, adding sound and editing things like varying the length of individual clips, and all with good success.
I will re-post if the earlier problem resurfaces. I expect that it may have been something unintentional I did without knowing I did it.
All is well for now! Thanks for your help!
All is well now sounds great. Great job staying with the projects to your success.
Best wishes in moving forward.
