When you choose to locate the missing photos, the name of the images appears at the top of the file explorer/finder.
You can enable the option "find nearby missing photos" to relocate the images in the complete folder.

Thank you. But I am still not able to select a folder or multiple photos at a time. I am only able to do photo by photo, even when I enable "find nearby missing photos."
How did you do the backups? Give us the details, step by step.
Do the folders in your Folder list in Lightroom have question mark icons?
That's the hard part dj. I wish I never had me back up to begin.
Last night i was looking though my folders trying to find some images I had erased. I thought perhaps they were still locating in a catalog somewhere. Well at some point I chose to back up images and now this is what I have : Three folders under 2015: 2015-11-06, 2015-11-07, 2015-11-08- all transparent with question marks.
I know I have really screwed up because I don't even know step by step what exactly I did.
I am am amateur with LR folders and shouldn't mess with them too much!
Backups if made properly, would never affect Lightroom. So, you must be doing something wrong. All you have to do to make backups is COPY (not MOVE) the photos to a different disk. All you have to do to make backups of your catalog file is to turn on the option in Catalog Settings. You must do BOTH>
The folders with ? icons can be fixed via the instructions at this link (with pictures).
Thank you for you advice. I will look at this link!
