    Making an existing PDF "Accessible"

I am using a trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.  I opened an existing PDF file and tried to "make it accessible" or bring it up to newest version accessibility standards.  The process seemed to go along just fine, but the document at the end was a mess.  Certain letters (mostly the letters E and P) were removed from their original words and strewn through out the page.

Has anyone run into this before?  Is there a way to get around this?
