Similar problem here, certain changes won't show up untill i clear the cache ( ctrl-/ )
Exactly what I'm experiencing. Very annoying.
It's a problem that is affecting a number of people. Yesterday, Todd from Adobe said:
We are very keen to isolate the causes of these issues. We have a couple of engineers visiting someone having this problem tomorrow so that they can debug the issue.
Please, submit detailed bug reports here:
If you provide your contact information, we'll be reaching out to some of you.
The issue is that the information held by the render thread is getting out of synch with the information held by the UI thread. This kind of problem can be worked around by either restarting the application or purging the caches---either of which forces a re-synchronization of these sets of information.
Let's hope today's visit goes well!
In the meantime, there are some things you could try that I've seen fixing the issue for some people.
Possible fix from: https://forums.adobe.com/message/8245129#8245129 - Run AE as administrator (right-click on the icon>Run As Administrator - super-easy thing to try)
Possible fix from: https://forums.adobe.com/message/8251043#8251043 - reinstalling mouse driver (really?!?!?)
Possible fix from: https://forums.adobe.com/message/8246053#8246053 - reinstalling AE and the update (this seems like a reasonable fix)
We are having the exact same issue in our studio, it's happening on two different workstations (iMac 27" and Mac Pro late 2013).
Please make an update for this available asap. We desperately need it.
If you'd like to help us to test the After Effects CC 2015 (13.6.1) update---which fixes this bug---you can request access to the prerelease testing program here:
Choose the "Private programs" tab and click Apply to apply for the "After Effects CC 2015 (13.6.1) patch update" program.
Thanks, I'm heading over to download it on my laptop for review. Fingers crossed!
The After Effects CC 2015 (13.6.1) bug-fix update is available. It fixes several bugs, including the one being discussed on this thread.
Let us know how things work after you have installed the update.
I've updated to 13.6.1 via creative cloud this time (I installed the patch manually earlier), the sound delay issue is fixed. It's slightly faster as well.
On the startup of a project, it still takes 10-15 to load the visuals in the preview box. Any idea if this will be fixed?
I see some strange lines when I get a preview. I think this wasn't happening in 2014 version. Please check the screenshot attached. Thanks!
Ok. I tested the sound delay by getting the sound only preview. Now that I tried it with the "0" button (visual+audio render), the sound came with a 2-3 seconds delay. Meaning, you get the video playing but the music comes after 2-3 seconds. It's very annoying when you do syncing jobs. So yeah, this is not fixed either.
To summarize :
1) Preview updates after 10-15 upon startup of After Effects.
2) Audio stays mute for 2-3 seconds while playing the preview inside after effects.
IMPORTANT - FOR ADOBE TEAMS -
Same problem here on CTRL + Z not refreshing. Here is what I know to help Adobe teams on the Problem :
- This problems seems to apear only when the Layers are in 3D
- The problem Apeared when my project became bigger ( >12 Mo), I deleted everything and imported only one comp in a new project and it works
- It affects Animation Keys ---> Animation will play like before the CTRL Z - Have to Flush Cache
- It Affects the position / rotation / scale with no keys ---> impossible to get it back like before (CTRL Z won't work) need to flush Cache
I love CC 2015 because I animate Faster... but my projects isn't usable anymore on 2015 I'm going back on 2014
Please Guys , correct this.
Thank you !
Well...i think that is impossible to work in CC 2015, even with the latest updates. I'm sitting here waiting to have a feedback from my preview window. Not only Ctrl+Z, even switching from a comp to another results in a black preview window...or no preview window at all. Preview will not update when you scrub the timeline, preview will not update if you switch a layer on and off, purging cache is super slow, audio drops everywhere, super slow rendering times. This is the WORST version of a software that i've ever seen.
2014 was smooth, slow but smooth. Now i've to migrate all my scripts, loose a ton of time only because in the office they have started the project in 2015. Really sad.

No you don't. Good news! You can open projects created with AE CC 2015 in AE CC 2014. They work just fine! Which is really handy because I like rendering with multiprocessing so I usually work in CC 2015 (because it works really well for me) and then open the project in CC 2014 to render.

Make sure you're running AE version 13.7. The issues you're describing are not what I've been experiencing in 13.7. What OS are you using? What hardware?
