Hi LR community,
my external hard drive crashed with my photos neatly sorted into folders and all RAWs converted to DNG. I generated Smart Previews so luckily not everything is lost. I also have parts of my collection still on memory cards as the original RAW files (and JPGs). How do I import them so I maintain my folder structure, edits, tags etc.???
I don't know how to start, should I export the Smart Previews as original first with the FolderPublish plugin to generate the folder structure then reimport or do I have to reconnect my images first with 'search for missing images'? Does that keep my folder structure in LR?
Please help Lightroom gods and godesses!
Do you have your catalog file?
Yes, I do have my catalog and Smart Previews! What can I do?
You shouldn't have to do anything to get your smart previews to work. Just open the catalog file and they should be utilized.
You'd have to use your operating system to copy the original photos from your memory card back to the same location on the external HD that they were on before the crash. There is no importing in this process.
You also need to begin making regular and automated backups of your photos and of your catalog file. No excuses.
