I would like to know how to draw on video similar to the way sports programs will show a replay, then pause the video, draw on the screen with a stylus to help illustrate and explain plays, and can resume playing the video afterwards. Is this possible with after effect? Can anyone point me to any video tutorials or even in the right direction?
It's impossible in AE. There is NOTHING live about the application. You'd need a Telestrator, which is the name of the gizmo TV guys use... and it's for broastcast use. If you're trying to pull this off with a handicam, forget it.
That being said, you CAN fake a telestrator in AE. But it won't be live.
This is very easy to do fter Effects if you pre-produce your video. You can draw a path on the video layer and add the stroke effect to the path or you can use the Write On effect. Speed changes and freeze frames are also part of the basic skill set you should have to use AE effectively.
You just can't do this live because everything done in AE must be rendered and delivered as a non-interactive video.
yes this is exactly what I want. I will look this up in their tutorials
