Remember that, in Premiere Elements, you are working in video resolution. There is no way a photo in your video is going to look as detailed as it does as a photo. In fact, adding a 10 mb photo is kind of a waste of resolution. You'll get much better results if your photos is as close as possible to video resolution.

When working with on-screen photos, you don't measure in inches and centimeters. All measurements are made in pixels.

For high-def video, your photo shouldn't be much larger than 2000x1500 pixels (72 ppi), (The resolution is determined by your Project Settings -- which you'll find under the program's Edit menu.)

For standard definition video, your photo shouldn't be much larger than 1000x750 (72 ppi).

Also, once you add any photo, make sure you Render your timeline (press Enter) so that your preview will look more like your final output.

What version of Premiere Elements? What computer operating system?

Are you working with Premiere Elements 10 or earlier?

Are you talking about still images or video files?

What project preset according to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General?

More questions, based on your answer to the above.

              Hi shachard,

Will wait for your responses to information asked by Steve and ATR. But meanwhile as suggested by Steve, you can render your timeline before playing it back. Also, you can right-click on the application playback monitor and under the Playback Quality choose the Highest as option. Also, under Edit->Preferences->General, you may change the "Timeline render quality" (in case you're using a HD project) to High Quality. It might take more time to render but the playback would be done in higher quality when compared to the default settings. Hope it helps.

              Thanks

Please see pic attached regarding general project settings. It doesn’t let me change most of them…

I answered Steve’s questions and tried everything you mentioned but nothing helped. Quality is very low. Don’t know what happened…It wasn’t like that before. very frustrating…

                              Still no image.

Meantime, can you clarify what you mean by "quality" when you say "quality is low"? Are you talking exclusively about resolution?

If so, please respond to my very first post explaining the difference between photo and video resolution.

If by "quality" you mean color levels, color reproduction, etc., we have another issue. But photo resolution vs. video resolution is the main thing to understand when creating video slideshows.

                                Hi Steve

Don’t know why you are not receiving my picture. Most of the tabs are locked for me for change and i don’t know why. Maybe thats the reason for the low quality.

low quality is a very high difference between pixels amount on original picture (very high) and while running or showed on the program (very very low).

And you rendered the timeline (pressed Enter) so that any yellow-orange lines along the top of the timeline turned green, right?

Meantime, there is still no image showing up on your post. Are you posting to the Adobe forum or are you just responding to the e-mail notification?

Thank you for your reply (post 4) to my questions (post 2). In your post 4, you wrote...

Meanwhile, i only tried still image.

I have not returned to your thread until now because of all the discussions taking place. But, the current problem seems to be your posting of a screenshot requested by the others. Since no one else has offered a how to for that, I will interrupt the discussions in progress to write the following

Please read the following how to for posting a screenshot in the forums. See if it helps.

The specified item was not found.

Since you have stated that "I only tried still image" and have the problem. I would suggest to all, that you solve the still problem first before adding in the variable of video.

                                    More later.
