Could you please provide additional details :
- Which version of Lightroom are you using?
- Which operating system : windows or mac ?
- Make and model of camera from which you are importing images?
- What error message do you get while importing?
- Share the screenshot of your import window settings if possible
I have 2015.2.1 (that's the only number I see).
I'm using a mac.
I use a Canon Rebel and I've had no import problems over the past month,
but this week I cannot import anything. It took many hours to get the
photo file into the grid in the library and now that the photos are
there nothing happens when I check the photos and click on the import
button. It's like the import button is not clickable.
There is no error message
Are the photos greyed out?
Can you show us a screen capture?
Also, please update to Lightroom CC 2015.3

So if you see them in the grid, then you cannot Import them again!
You must have used the "Copy" option, and now you have the grid thumbnails referencing the images somewhere else in your hard-drive, and you also have the left-0ver 'copies' on the desktop.
Right/cmd-click on one of these grid images and choose "Show in Explorer/Finder" to know where they were copied to.
